I think this happens because the the mature product
segment evolved to where it is for very good reasons.
Speaking of TV specifically, the whole TV experience
(including the programming as well as the hardware)
will not be easy to change in any dramatic fashion
this late in the game.
I think the hype about interactive TV is a good
example.
