There have been some meaningful laboratory tests. The fol briefly summarizes discussion we had in mid-Dec. CRC conducted tests on the LG/Zenith 5th Generation Prototype STB, as well as Samsung GEMINI and Linx/Micronas Prototype CASPER chips: http://www.crc.ca/en/html/crc/home/research/broadcast/rtnt ATI submitted A/74 Field Ensemble test results for their latest chip(s) (e.g. Theater) in fol comment re SHVERA ILLR improvment discussion: http://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/ecfs/retrieve.cgi?native_or_pdf=pdf&id_document=6517693762 In support of the SHVERA ILLR improvement discussion, the FCC sponsored a test, which included a handful of OTA STBs and HDTVs: http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/FCC-05-199A1.pdf I believe that the best performing STBs were probably from LG and at least some of the other units were from ATI, based on correlation with LG and ATI test results: http://www.freelists.org/archives/opendtv/12-2005/msg00122.html Next step: How about some on-the-air "real world" comparison tests???? ======================================================= Tom Barry <trbarry@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: I'm not as interested in "claims" but I'd like to hear how well it performs. - Tom Richard Hollandsworth wrote: > Fol post has info on the $160 PrimeDTV PHD-100 OTA STB. > http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=7022533&#post7022533 > It does ATSC and QAM and probably also NTSC (the manual is somewhat unclear). > Copyright date for manual is 2005 and the pdf create date is only a month > ago: 20Dec2005. > > It uses ATI's fairly recent 300 MHz XILLEON display chip...if it is ALSO > using the fairly recent ATI THEATER ATSC Decoder chip, it would be first OTA > STB to use a chip that claims to "meet" the A/74 Receiver Guidelines, > including all BRAZIL Test Ensembles. > > Anyone interested in looking inside the "tin can"??? > > > > > --------------------------------- > Bring words and photos together (easily) with > PhotoMail - it's free and works with Yahoo!
