It's Deja Vu all over again!

Back in the early 1980's when 2/3" 3-CCD "industrial" video cameras were being introduced to the market, notably the DXC-3000 by Sony, detractors noted that the resolution specs for the camera were lower than the 3 2/3" Saticon II tubed camera DXC-M3 it replaced.

Sony countered that yes, maybe the static resolution was lower for the chip camera, but the dynamic resolution was much higher than those of a tube camera due to the Saticon's image lag and smear. Also, there was identical resolution in zones I, II, and III for the chip camera, whereas the tube camera may have had higher resolution in zone I, but increasingly lower resolutions for zones II and III.

The group says that many TVs claiming 1080p resolution base that simply upon the number of visible pixels displayed in a still image, which is not the same as the HDTV's moving picture resolution.
