In case any of you have missed it, here's what I have found in recent
ads for TVs:

- "HDTV Built-In" - This means the TV has an ATSC receiver/decoder, even
if the TV, itself, is 4:3 (or even narrower) and has no more than 640 x
480 resolution.

- "HDTV Compatible" and "HDTV Supported" - This, when it it used
meaningfully, appears to mean you can stick an HDTV signal into the TV
even if all you'll get will be seen on a 4:3 (or narrower) screen with
no more than 640 x 480 resolution.

- "HDTV Ready" - This seems to be the only reasonably reliable indicator
of an HDTV display, but it means no ATSC receiver/decoder.

TTFN,
Mark
