Hi all,

A slightly off-topic request for info, help or guidance. For one to two
weeks now our 29 inch Sony tv has been showing some strange behaviour.
Following power-up the screen remains black and after a minute or so the
third led (normally the ir remote control indicator, which blinks if you
press a key on the remote) starts blinking continuously. If you feed it
over
a scart input the seperate audio gets trough, as to expected, but
regardless
of the source, no picture is displayed. This can go on for quite some time,
and the time before it starts showing the picture has been increasing
since,
and yesterday it took over one hour for it to work properly. So it is still
capable of portraying a proper image, and even when the screen is black (or
goes black) it may display the osd overlay like channel- or inputnumber,
indicating there is nothing wrong with the control of the electron tube
focussing and so on.

Of course the ol' slap on the top or side of the box initially appeared to
work, but this tends to be mere coincidence. Switching the set into and out
of standby mode seemed to work once or twice, but also isn't a consistent
cure either.

So, any-one got an idea what could be the cause of this strange behaviour?
I
haven't been able to google-up something on the web, not sure what to
search
for either.

Thanks,

Donald
