There was a story on WNYC radio today that might shed some light on where to go for news in an emergency. In 2002, there was a major ammonia spill in Minot, North Dakota. According to the story, ALL SIX of their commercial radio stations were owned by Clear Channel and programmed remotely. Emergency services were unable to get anyone to break into the pre-ordained programming with evacuation news. The local commercial TV stations (ABC. CBS, Fox, and NBC) all carried emergency information.

TTFN,
Mark
