Hi all:
Some of you may know a good friend of mine from the Bay Area, Bill Ruck. I just
received the following from Phil Kane - SBE Chap. 124 Vice Chair:

Some of you are acquainted with Bill Ruck, longtime b/c engineer in
the San Francisco area, member of SBE Chapter 40, and chair of the
  Northern California Frequency Coordinating Committee.

Bill took a leave of absence from our firm (CSI Telecommunications
Consulting Engineers) to work as a contract employee in Athens for
the successor to Sony Video Systems at the upcoming Olympic Games.

Today I received the following from his wife:

I just got a call tonight that Bill was hit by a car while
crossing the street in Athens. He will be okay, they said, but
he apparently has a broken hip, broken knee, some cracked ribs
and other lesser stuff. His roommate said that they were able
to talk to him briefly. He is currently in intensive care and
will probably be there for 3-4 days, and in the hospital for
about two weeks. After that, it's not clear what's next.

I will send updates as I get more news. If you want to get in
touch with me, it might be better to email as I'm trying to keep
the phone line open since it's hard for the guys there to make
      calls out.

      Siobhan Ruck

The best thing we can do right now is to keep Bill in our thoughts
and prayers. I'll forward more info as it becomes available.
