SEOUL, May 31 (Reuters) - Samsung Electronics Co Ltd
(KOREA:005930) said on Monday it agreed to supply $130 million
worth of set-top boxes to DirecTV Group Inc (NYSE:DTV), the
largest U.S. satellite TV operator.
Samsung, the most valuable technology firm outside the
United States, said it would ship 1.11 million set-top boxes to
the U.S. firm in the second half of this year and hoped to
increase supplies in the future.
DirecTV is controlled by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. Ltd.
(NYSE:NWS)(AUS:NCP) through its Fox Entertainment Group Inc.
(NYSE:FOX) unit.
Shares in Samsung were 2.7 percent lower at 506,000 won at
0205 GMT, while Seoul's broader market <.KS11> fell 2.34
percent. DirecTV shares ended down 0.79 percent at $17.61 last
week.
