Doesn't get past the simplistic notion that we are limited to presently 
deployed or the consensus view of what is possible near term for the 
last mile.

In reality the technology exist for gigabit and multi-gigabit last mile 
links at very affordable prices that bypass all current landlords.

Someday soon the light bulbs will go off and it will be all the rage.

But the Telcos, cable and satellite companies will probably find a way 
to get Congress to stop it when it starts. Sort of like Love Field, 
American Air and Southwest Airlines. Texas politicians and their patrons 
have been able to tax Texans $100 a ticket for 25 years and get away 
with it because of the ignorance of the public by not allowing Southwest 
to use Love for out of state flights thereby giving a gift to other 
airlines specifically American.

Now that Kansas has passed another law exempting flights to Kansas from 
Love the public sees what airfares would be if competition is allowed. 
Now the dam will burst and the Love Field legislation will be deleted.
