Nice to see others joining in on the hysteria. They don't say who will be doing
the work. Doesn't sound like volunteers.

Switchover Help Scheme launches in Wales

The Digital Switchover Help Scheme will soon be offered to older and disabled
people living in Wales.

The Switchover Help Scheme has been set up to help eligible older and disabled
people to switch to digital on one of their TV sets.

People are eligible if they are aged 75 or over, are receiving (or could
receive) attendance allowance, mobility supplement or disability living
allowance, have lived in a care home for six months or more, or if they are
registered blind or partially sighted.

For a one-off payment of £40, eligible people will be offered Freeview
equipment for one television set, installation of that equipment, an aerial
check and upgrade if necessary (for people who own their own aerials), a
demonstration of how the equipment works and access to a telephone helpline.

This service is free for people who are eligible and also receive pension
credit, income support or income based jobseekers allowance.

The Help Scheme has launched a television advertising campaign which started to
appear on screens across Wales this weekend. The Help Scheme will also run
local and poster advertising and stage information events in the lead up to
switchover in Wales, which starts in August 2009.

Cheryl Lockyer, Help Scheme spokesperson in Wales, said: "Digital switchover is
coming, and we are here to do everything we can to make sure that no-one
eligible will be left behind. We will be writing to everyone eligible
explaining exactly what help is available and what needs to be done. The most
important thing is not to worry-we will be in touch."
