If the answer is, the content from TV broadcasters, that's believable, but
does not imply "viewed by appointment, on the station's schedule."
That’s because time shifted viewing of broadcast content is far below 50%.
And live TV is much more than broadcast Bert. Ever hear of ESPN?
At least this time, they aren't confusing watching live TV with watching on a
broadcast channel. This time, it's a little clearer they are referring to
watching live TV from an OTT site, even if assuming the "live" aspect is real:
"New data from research firm Parks Associates reveals 52 percent of these
broadband households watch their OTT TV programs, movies, live event coverage
and other content on a TV connected to the internet."
It's been at least four years now, that TV content viewed live was less than
50% of TV content viewing.
Not in this household. But we are not Millennials...
Once again, Bert got sucked in by the PR hype. Park’s Associates is a long time
promoter of broadcast TV. Most of these stories are based on manufactured
surveys intended to deliver the intended results.
The reality is that watching TV “live” is still the dominant way that TV
programming is consumed, and the vast majority of this is on the big screen in
the family room. People are lazy and creatures of habit - if they don’t have a
specific program they want to watch they surf the channels available, whether
they are delivered by Broadcast, MVPD, or VMVPD.
The only major change is that there has been a huge shift from cable/satellite
delivery to OTT delivery. Watching TV on phones and tablets is not the most
desired way to be entertained, although this could change with foldable
phones...NOT!
