TVTechnology: A Missing Piece of the 4K Puzzle

The gist of the piece seems to be,

"While advancements in 4K are happening quickly, much the way HD did a few
years ago, the fact remains that there is currently very limited content
available in 4K UHD,"

To which I have the same reaction I had wrt HDTV: NOT TRUE.

If you do the math, you will soon notice that 4K is just about the resolution
you can expect, with good 35mm film and a good 3mm lens, in the movie 18mm X
24mm frame format. And 4K is also the format used in the new digital cinema.

So in fact, for all those old shows and movies mastered in 35mm, there should
be an abundance of good 4K material. Certainly 35mm can offer better than HD
quality.

Even the original Star Trek series, even handicapped with its abysmal 4 KHz
sound and 4:3 aspect ratio, is much better viewed in HD than it was in its
original NTSC.
