Reminds me ofJack Valenti's testimony in front of Congress in 1982...
Valenti became notorious for his flamboyant attacks on the Sony Betamax Video
Cassette Recorder (VCR), which the MPAA feared would devastate the movie
industry. He famously told a congressional panel in 1982, "I say to you that
the VCR is to the American film producer and the American public as the Boston
strangler is to the woman home alone."
As the NYTimes article points out, the NFL has expanded the franchise many
times, exploiting their government created (and protected) monopoly time and
again. While the success of he WWE has been remarkable, it is still a "rounding
error" compared to the NFL. Streaming is not a threat to either of these
behemoths...
It is another opportunity...
I have this weird vision of Trump and Cruz in the ring with the crowds going
wild.
Then Hillary steps into the ring...

“Sports is what keeps people coming to television,” said Ross, the securities

Until it doesn’t.

With its recently announced Twitter deal, the N.F.L. seems to be following
the lead of the WWE’s streaming app.
