Once a huge champion of CBS All Access - “this is the future of TV
entertainment” - Bert still refuses to pony up $5.99/mo to watch a show that
was intentionally placed in this CBS “walled garden” to attract new subscribers.
Earth to Bert: The law of supply and demand is alive an well at Netflix, CBS
All Access, even ESPN without it’s “Skipper.”
Americans pay hundreds of billions a year for entertainment; more than half is
via subscriber fees for a range of walled gardens - some pay to avoid
commercials, some pay and still are bombarded with commercials...
The only area where major legacy TV business models are in decline is “Free ad
supported TV.” Here there are still some crumbs left for the bottom feeders.
