  Hi all

This next week will take The Tech-Notes Taste of NAB 2005 Road Show
through one of the busiest weeks we’ve had during our six month tour
with a total of four presentations.

Beginning in Bozeman, MT, our presentation will be at the studios of
Montana State University on Monday, October 17th and will begin at noon
in the KUSM-TV Studios, Visual Communications Bldg. at the corner of
11th & Grant. This is the third year that SBE Chapter 137 has hosted us.
For details (map, etc.), please visit:
http://www.tech-notes.tv/2005/69-Bozeman.htm.

We’ll then head for Spokane, Washington where will do our presentation
on Wednesday, October 19th in the studios of KSPS-TV Ch. 7, 3911 S.
Regal St., Spokane, WA 99223. This is the fourth year that SBE Chapter
21 has hosted our event. Anyone that would care to attend is more than
welcome to do so. Things will begin at noon. For details (map, etc.),
please visit: http://www.tech-notes.tv/2005/70-Spokane.htm.

The following day, Thursday, October 20th, SBE Chapter 117 will host us
in the Visitor Center meeting room at Washington State University, 225
North Grand Avenue, Pullman, Washington 99164-1912. The presentation
will commence at 11 AM after a brief meeting of the chapter. As usual,
anyone else who’d care to attend is more than welcome to do so. For
details (map, etc.), please visit:
http://www.tech-notes.tv/2005/71-Pullman.htm.

We wind up the week in the Tri-cities area of Washington before we
finally return home to Oregon. The Tri-cities Chapter of SBE, Chapter
51, is our host for this event. This is the first time we’ve done our
presentation for them. We’ll meet at noon in the Tri-Tech Skills Center,
at 5929 W. Metaline (corner Kellogg & Metaline), in Kennewick, WA. As
usual, anyone else who’d care to attend is more than welcome to do so.
For details (map, etc.), please visit:
http://www.tech-notes.tv/2005/72-Tri-cities.htm

To see a schedule of the remaining two venues for this year, please
visit: http://www.tech-notes.tv/2005/2005-2.htm as we continue our trek
home. You can also see where we’ve been and pictures of the venues
completed. Here’s hoping to see you at one of these places. If you do
come, step up and say hi.

You do NOT have to be a member of SBE and/or SMPTE to attend any of
their functions. Anyone with an honest interest in broadcast technology
is *_most_* welcome. There are no admission fees and you might even win
one of the door prizes.

To date, we’ve received almost 170 E-mail this year alone about what
we’ve done. You can see what your fellow engineers are saying about this
year’s presentation at: http://www.tech-notes.tv/2005%20Comments.pdf
(about 700 KB)

Typical of the e-mail’s we’ve received are these received within the
past day or so:

Larry,

You are correct in saying that the Road Show is Educational. It is nice
to actually hear what the presenter is saying about his product. This is
not always possible due to the extremely noisy conditions at NAB.

Keep up the good work.

P.S. I will try your suggestion of tying the power cords in knots.

Larry,

Thanks very much for bringing your fine presentation to Omaha once
again. For those of us who don't get to go to NAB it truly is a taste of
the exhibits there. Plus we don't have to travel and take as much time
away from work. We always learn something we can use from you and with
the various equipment on display. (Somebody said they thought I had a
future in video - I dunno...;)

Thanks, too, on behalf of the local SBE Chapter. Best regards and we
look forward to seeing you again next year.

Hope to see you at one of these events.
