Of course it is.

At long last. So there you go, Craig. ESPN broke out of an MVPD "the bundle,"
and found its way onto an OTT site. Why does it take so long to get these
simple points across?

But Wiki also says:

"In broadcasting, over-the-top content (OTT) refers to delivery of audio,
video, and other media over the Internet without the involvement of a
multiple-system operator in the control or distribution of the content."

Looks like it is time for Wiki to update its definition, as Dish is
definitely a MSO (the DBS service and Sling),

The definition is correct. When Dish offers Sling TV, it does so as an OTT
site. Not as an MVPD. It's as simple as that, Craig. You need to go back to the
top of the page and stay consistent with that long coming understanding.

The bundle is too important to abandon.

Too important until they decide to abandon it. Which some have done. I can't
believe you've cycled back to square one, once again.

Correct. Sling is not causing any waves in the pond...

No, as expected, you also missed that point. Here's the quote:

http://www.multichannel.com/thin-jury-s-still-out/392864

"The Wall Street Journal had reported that ESPN was in a major cost-cutting
mode after shedding about 3.2 million subscribers in a little more than 12
months, citing Nielsen figures. **It partly attributed those losses to ESPN’s
inclusion in skinny packages** and an overall pay TV decline."

So once again: the inclusion of ESPN is "skinny packages" came **after** the
decline in ESPN viewership began. Get it, Craig? The inclusion in skinny
packages was an attempt to stem that tide. So it can hardly be the CAUSE of the
slide. The slide started first, then ESPN started taking action.

Continuing, assuming Craig isn't totally distracted by his background linear
old-school TV racket by now:

*If* all those viewers, lost to ESPN from Craig's favorite "the bundle," had
all migrated to Sling TV, *then* we could conclude that indeed, ESPN going to
Sling TV had undermined "the bundle," and had cut into ESPN revenues. But
that's not the case. The case is, much more simply, that people are tired of
paying welfare checks to ESPN. In the new Internet TV era, ESPN has to compete.

I'll make a bet now that ESPN will not go direct to consumer in the
next five years, and if it does it will cost a bundle...

No problem. Even if they don't go direct, they will find their way to other OTT
sites, much like Sling TV. And going direct is hardly out of the question, even
as soon as next year. If the slide continues.
