Now I am wondering if front end overload has much to do with the modulation standard? Would DVB-t be less tolerant of RF overload in the front end? I do know that most GE or Motorola 2-way radios work well at Mt. Wilson, as do several models of cordless phones. Cheaper radios do not. Their front ends go all spurs and garble when clobbered with all the RF up there. So it sounds like better front ends would solve the problem you describe with nearby RF sources.
