There's some kind of smarts in the blaster itself...I tried others
too, to no avail. The "VCR Commander" comes with the instructions
you need. I still have the one I mentioned, am not using it, and can
easily get another if I ever do need one, so if you're interested,
let me know.
If memory serves, the place to enter the VCR's code is on the same
screen where you specify things like power on default, show channel
while tuning, colour scheme, etc. It may not show up unless you have
the Commander plugged in, but I don't recall that being the case when
I used mine a couple of years ago.
