YouTube reportedly planning streaming TV service
So once again, Craig, are you paying attention? Do you notice the FCC going
up in arms about these changes occurring on practically a daily basis? No.
Why not? Because they are changes that foster competition, not the other way
around.
The legacy MVPDs have no choice but to get in on the act, and Dish was the
first to do so in a convincing way.
Why would the FCC object to new competition? They do not have any authority to
regulate this now, although they could try to inject themselves into this area
via the VMVPD proceeding.
What is (or may be) noteworthy here, will be the decision by the content owners
to license their content to You Tube. And how they will deal with local
affiliates in terms of offering access to the broadcast networks.
Regards
Craig
