Last time we spoke the Powhatan Arrow was yours.
I started that way in 1980.
Girlfirend and I went to train shows and clubs together.
Then married and she learned what totality the trains consumed.
Your are the lucky one, keep it that way.
As for what to run, I like to bring stuff that is foreign to that club.
On my only previous run, it was B&O & C&O.
This time will be PRR.
CERTAINLY, your eastern stuff will be welcome.
(Let's overwhelm them!)
The layout has a "members nest" sitting within a circle
as you leave the topmost yard.
Their chat group sees everything that runs.
Go ahead and tease them to come out.
Be aware that there is a 2% grade outbound,
so have sufficient motive power.
My first train out was a ten car C&O passenger with only 2 Athearn units.
They all gathered to watch me stall at the circle eight grade.
Only needed about another 2 ounces of traction,
but those curves killed the run.
A couple feet of "push" got me through.
The return grades are less.

you and Milt are craftsmen.
He for train models, you for scenery and buildings,
I'll just sit and be amazed.

Suffice to say, you will park 100 yards away,
so a cart would be advised to transport the trains.
The layout is a letter "E" with five fingers.
Time to complete a lap is about one hour.
Unless you need a passing siding.
Yards are marked for train length of shortest passing siding.
Forty plus cars are possible -- don't be bashful.
My B&O coal train of 50 cars and two EM-1 engines had a fine time.
If you wish, bring extra DT throttles
so we need borrow fewer of theirs.
Also wear your badge/hat/shirt if you dare.

My friend had something come up and will not be able to make it so my bride Kay will be coming with her Powhatan Arrow. We will drive down on the 21st and stay at a hotel. Meet you all at the RR stay in hotel that night then go to California RR Museum on the way home.

OCMR MEMBERS GOING TO GEHAMS (Bakersfield):
I self drove last time.
Left Irvine at 7:30, arrived about 9:45. No stops.
I stayed overnight to avoid driving while tired or during darkness.
I'm likely to stay overnight in Bakersfield this time also,
and for that reason may not be a welcome carpool ride.
For those wanting to pool,
consider either my parking lot or the locker as departure places.
Please advise if you want to pool and
your preferred origin point, and I will post to members.
