Subject: [ourocmr] Ending 2020 on a high note
Many years ago I visited a layout that was being dismantled by Bridge Masters
in Anaheim Hills and I purchased a structure " Matranga Motor Works". For a
few years I placed the structure on my forth modules but at one show it got
dropped and was damaged.
Fast forward to March 2020 and I am standing in line at Home Depot following
the social distancing rules and just started taking to the guy behind me. Some
how we got on the subject of model trains and he said he build a layout in
Anaheim Hill for a guy that got dismantled and he was kind of bummed as he did
not get any of the structure from that layout and he built most of them. I
told him I have one of the building Matranga Motor Works and one of be
locomotives from that layout. He ask if I would be willing to sell it, I said
maybe but not sure which box I have it in.
This last month I started cleaning out a lot of my collection getting ready to
start construction on my garage layout. And what do I find Matranga Motor
Works and the locomotive from MYRR. So a few days before Christmas I emails
Neal letting him know I found it and he could have it. His comment back to me
was "You just made my Christmas". Today he came by and picked them up, what a
great way to end a year that was mostly a bummer then by reuniting Neil
Matranga with something he built over 20 years ago. I gave the structure and
locomotive to him for free, it was the right thing to do.
He is going to see if he can work out a field trip to Fallbrook next year he
has a friend who has a full sized running narrow gauge steam locomotive on his
property along with a bunch of cars.
Happy New year
Carl
