It's because the colors are simpler before the resize. It makes it
easier to compress. By all means, if the original is smaller, let's go
with that.
BTW, I don't have the original map handy. Is north that far from
vertical in the original too? I was confused for a second. I didn't
remember Barrakeesh being north of Holmgard. :)
