Yeah we can tell the saga of the corrections in an errata footnote,
that would seem best.

Changes in the Mongoose editions are supposedly made with Joe Dever's
input, cooperation, and blessing. This section has always been difficult
to understand, and it seems Dever's final word is that the wrong stat was
used originally. It certainly simplifies the section, and losing a
long-winded rules-fudge-footnote makes it a win/win situation to me. ;-)
If the footnote is so loved that we don't want to lose it, it could be
incorporated into the text of the errata entry for Section 308, so anyone
looking for it could still find it . . .
