Greetings,

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. I tend to get behind
in responding to Project Aon email.

We can always use more talented help. There are two routes for the
prospective volunteer. You can take on one of our less technical
tasks. If you want to do that, I can direct you to some things that
need to get done. If however, you want to make better use of the
skills you mentioned, you'll need to make a space for yourself within
the project. Either jump in and help with what you can when you hear
something on the volunteers' mailing list, or come up with something
to do that we haven't been doing.

For example, we've recently moved to a new web server, and we now have
the ability to create MySQL databases. The one project that seems to
come up a lot is the idea of being able to play the books online
(similar to statskeeper) but to be able to store the data on the
server. Even further is the idea of having all of the statistics
tracked more or less automatically.

Another possible project is to help with the errata tracking system
that we hope to create in order to automate that process - a bug
tracking application of sorts. See the Editor's Companion for an idea
of what I'm talking about:

http://www.projectaon.org/editor/

Right now, we gather the submitted errata by hand and use a command
line script to add them to the list of errata. That process could be
automated and the data stored in a database.

That's just a couple of ideas. You can come up with your own if those
aren't appealing.

I appreciate your offer of help. Your talents can come in very handy.
As a volunteer organization, Project Aon runs best when we are mostly
doing things that interest us and keep us motivated.
