Well, with a wonderfully prompt turnaround time of just eight hours, I've
got a reply!

It doesn't look like asking him what he knows about the other games would be
any use, but I've replied thanking him and letting him know about Martijn's
interest in contacting him.

Timothy

Hi, Lone wolf and the Ice halls of terror was the second game that I ever
did any work on and my first commission as a graphics artist. From what I
recall I started working on it around June 1985 and all I was asked to do
for it was a title screen on the spectrum (which I completed and was the
first title screen I ever designed). I seem to remember the title screen was
of a large green dragony wormy kind of thing with a number of bulgy eyes and
it's head poking out of an icy cave.

The game was commissioned for development by LT software (based in Basildon,
Essex) who also handled the development of Skyfox, Flyer Fox, Twister, Sodov
the Sorceror and an early (unfinished and unpublished) version of
International Karate.

This was done literally in the first month of my game development career
when I was 19, I did not know how things worked back then and did not pay
attention to stuff like who the programmers were, in fact I don't think I
ever saw the game running at all.

As far as I am aware the development of this game was abandoned prior to
it's completion.

I also have no idea where my work on this game is now…… but as the first
piece of game development I ever got paid for it will always have a special
place in my heart.

Cheers

Jon

Dear Mr Hare,

I am writing on behalf of Project Aon, a group of volunteers working to
preserve and publish materials relating to the Lone Wolf gamebooks by
Joe Dever. Among the spin-offs of this book series were several computer
games, including one for the Spectrum that was apparently never
published, called 'The Ice Halls of Terror'.

Although we have little information about this game, which was
advertised c.1985, we have found it named on a list of your past work:
http://www.c64hq.com/interviews/hare_softography.html

If you were indeed connected with this game, we would be very interested
in any information about it that you may be able to recall. In
particular, we would like to know about the history of the game's
development -- why was it never published? Was it complete or only half-
finished? What sort of game was it, and were there any stand-out
features expected?

Also, we would be delighted to know if there still exist any materials
related to the game, even a copy of the unreleased program itself.
Project Aon began in 1999 when Joe Dever contacted the online fan
community offering permission to publish Internet editions of several
out-of-print works. We have since sought permission from other authors
and illustrators connected to Lone Wolf titles, seeking to establish a
free-of-charge repository of all Lone Wolf material.

We would therefore be pleased to make available any materials related to
'The Ice Halls of Terror' that you might be able to provide. We offer
the promise that Project Aon will never profit financially from its
availability in any way and that your permission to publish any
materials will be explicitly acknowledged in the downloaded editions.

I understand, of course, that this was a long time ago. Any information
at all that you can provide would be received most gratefully.

If you in turn have any questions or concerns, please feel free to
contact us. I will pass the substance of your remarks on to the other
staff, if you wish to mail me back; or else the volunteers of Project
Aon can be reached more directly through our contact web page:

http://www.projectaon.org/en/Main/Contact

On behalf of Project Aon, I thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Timothy Pederick.
