That looks as though it will significantly reduce the size of the XML files! It's certainly going to avoid issues with the footnotes page not matching those in the sections themselves. This will be particularly useful in working on future books, I should imagine, keeping things much easier to manage, especially when coupled with the auto-generated Illustrations list.


The footnote number is a link to the location of the footnote marker,
while the section name is a link to the top of the section. Should the
section name spell out "Section X" in case it is a numbered section?

Would it be the work of seconds or hours to adjust? I think having "Section" preceding the number is a bit less confusing than simply having the two numbers next to each other (ftn # and section #). Just IMO.
