I can't be thankful enough that these have been made available to us! As with
everyone else here, please send my thanks to Joe for making this possible. My
only question is this (ok really two questions): A) Are the book covers
available for download anywhere?
B) Most important to me... Is it possible to download these in PDF format? I love being able
to load up an old gamebook in PDF format and essentially "flip" through the pages
like it was the real thing, plus, I find that on a 19" LCD it opens up nicely and fits
within the screen, where I find myself always having to scroll through the HTML version.
Again,
Thank you!

Hi Acutain
We're always pleased to hear from fellow Lone Wolf fans who enjoy what Project
Aon has released so far; we will to continue until the job is done!
There are several issues regarding the covers: 1) each book has had many covers;
some of the UK books alone have had 3 or 4 different covers each! Add in the
American covers, and those from other countries, and we have too many to choose
from. 2) If we wanted to distribute the cover artwork, we would need to contact
the cover artist who painted it. Since there are so many, this could be a
problem. 3) As part of a webpage using the current layout we have, the covers
actually look rather out of place.
If we ever manage to get PDF versions of the books available for download, it is
likely we would add in a cover for each, but we consider it's probably best not
to worry about it right now. We hope this doesn't lessen your enjoyment of the
books too much.
Regarding the PDF versions, it has long been our intention of creating PDF
versions of the books. I'm sure you're aware that we have already released
several titles as PDFs, notably the Lone Wolf Club Newsletters, The Magnamund
Companion, and The Skull of Agarash. These were hand worked from scans and OCR,
and the layout obviously takes a great deal of time. We use XML files to store
the source data of each Lone Wolf gamebook, since it is possible to convert the
XML to PDF, though it is still requires a great deal of tweaking by the
technical editor to get a finalised layout that looks good without orphan lines
and headings. Unfortunately, our XML -> LATEX -> PDF conversion expert tecchie
is too busy to work on this aspect of Project Aon these days, and we have yet to
find a replacement. Once we do, the Lone Wolf gamebooks will definitely be
available in PDF format.
I hope this answers your questions.
Kind regards,
