Hello!
Love what you've done with the place, so to speak. I was one of Jonathan
Blake's early recruits and I'd love it if whoever first reads this refers the
message to him, not that I mind whoever else in the crew reads it. I'm probably
best remembered as the architect of the "compromise" over the Magic Spear at
Tarnalin (or maybe that's how I most want to be remembered and not so much for
some of my outlandish errata ideas re Special Items).
After "moving on" oh so long ago, I figured out how to date, got married,
became a lawyer, and had a couple of kids. Lo and behold, my wife and kids are
as geeky as I am and my wife and I just finished Shadow on the Sand with my
11-year-old daughter. Along with that came the rediscovery of my own more
perfectionistic solo relationship with the replay of the books. I am now
play-testing a viable path through the CE revisions with minimal stats and a
few subtle rules tweaks that I intend to share soon with the forums.
More to the point, I have noticed lots of things in the current internet
editions that might bear fixing up. In some cases, these are plain syntactic
goofs, but more often it's areas where I think better choices might have been
made (albeit based on concrete reasons and not just whims) or where I think the
crew may have overstepped or been too presumptive (something I was definitely
guilty of as well on at least a couple points way back when). I recall the
operation being very feedback friendly, but I also wonder whether it's worth it
to spend some of my limited free time on such an endeavor, depending on what
your policy is about publishing new changes at this late date.
Regardless of such occasional constructive criticism, know that my admiration
for the work that you continued in my absence remains high and that I deeply
appreciate it all. Joe Dever's passing makes it all the more precious.
Yours in the Spirit of the Sun,
Michael
