Just last night I was looking at some of the early website layouts and
reminiscing. As I remember it, Joe approached me in 1999 with the idea
of publishing the books online. He offered that I could put them
online for a fee to recoup costs. I offered three distributions
options. He chose the one we currently use: free for the taking but
not redistribution. When that was settled, I made an announcement to
the Kaiwisdom mailing list and got things started.

Someday, we should write a project history.
