very much like to help with Freeway Warrior books ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hi! I grew up with the Lone Wolf books, but my biggest passion then (and now)
were the Freeway Warrior series. I am THRILLED that Highway Holocaust has at
last become part of Project Aon, but with what I imagine are the limited
times and resources of volunteers, combined with the fact that LW is -
generally - the more well-known and regarded series, I would like to
volunteer to help the Project with FW in any way I can. From what I can
gather, they have already been scanned and OCR'ed, though what else needs to
be done, I could not work out (they were listed as 'complete' in the Inner
Sanctum, but this is obviously not totally the case as they aren't released
yet). I'm sure lots of people write with "when will book X be completed?" or
"hurry up and get book Y done!" I would love to see FW completed sooner
rather than later, but I am not going to say so without putting my money
where my mouth is and volunteering to undertake any tasks still required to
get the books done. So, please let me know if I can help, and how! Regards,
Matt

Hi Matt

Thanks for taking the time to contact us. We at Project Aon always enjoy hearing from our fellow fans around the world.

We also appreciate all offers of help. Here's the state of play with Freeway Warrior Books 2-4:

Scanning/OCR: Complete (2, 3, 4)
Proofreading: Complete (2, 3, 4)
XML Conversion: Complete (2, 3, 4)
Pre-release Edition Generated: Complete (2); Incomplete (3, 4)

This means that all four books are in the Editing stage, which is how they are listed on the Assignments Page: <http://www.projectaon.org/en/Sanctum/Assignments>

Editors read and playtest the online pre-release copies of the books looking for errors. So far, only Slaughter Mountain Run has had a pre-release edition generated. You can access it here: <http://www.projectaon.org/test/en/xhtml/fw/02smr/title.htm>

If you would like to help us with this book, please read through the online edition a few times, reporting any errors you spot. Things that are clearly wrong will be fixed in the source XML file; issues that are less clear will be recorded on the relevant Errata Page here: <http://www.projectaon.org/en/Errata/SlaughterMountainRun>

Note that the illustrations are currently missing, so the messy layout of the pages is a known issue that will be fixed in the next pre-release.

Another way you could help us is by suggesting placements for the small illustrations. As you probably spotted, we don't add these small illustrations to mimic the original publication, we place them in numbered sections with text relevant to the picture. If you look at the placement suggestions for Books 2, 3, and 4 on the Errata Pages, you'll see we haven't really thought about these yet.

<http://www.projectaon.org/en/Errata/SlaughterMountainRun>
<http://www.projectaon.org/en/Errata/TheOmegaZone>
<http://www.projectaon.org/en/Errata/CaliforniaCountdown>

If you can come up with some good suggestions, it would definitely be a help. Most of the volunteers are unfamiliar with the Freeway Warrior series beyond Book 1, so input from fans of that series will be gratefully received.

We look forward to working with you!

For Sommerlund and the Kai! (And for Cal Phoenix and DC1 as well!)
