hi. i'm a huge lone wolf fan and appreciate the hard work you at project aon
have put in. i also happen to own all the new order books published in the uk
(21-28). i don't have buckets of free time unfortunately, but if you are having
trouble with access to these books i may be able to help. i have a scanner, but
no specialist software (i just use the built-in xp software with it)
cheers, hope joe dever gets well soon, and keep up the good work

Hi Alex
Thank you for your kind words, we're always pleased to hear from fellow Lone
Wolf fans who are enjoying the fruits of Project Aon's labours!
As far as scanning the New Order books, the Assignments page on the website
shows that books 21-23 are currently being scanned:
http://www.projectaon.org/en/Sanctum/Assignments
However, that does mean that books 24-28 require attention. If you could find
time in your busy schedule to scan in one of these books, it would certainly be
appreciated by the rest of us. Since we still have 8 books left to release
before we start on Book 21 (17-20 and Freeway Warrior 1-4) there would be no
great pressure on you to complete the scanning by a fast-approaching deadline,
though sooner is always better than later. ;-)
Regarding the scanner software, if it doesn't have any Optical Character
Recognition software bundled with it, there is always this free software:
http://www.simpleocr.com/
The website is a little confusing regarding their sales of their proprietary API
code, but the software itself is completely free and never expires. The link at
the top-right of the page where it says 'Download' is a link to the 9Mb EXE
installation file. I have used a previous version of the software myself in the
past, and it was accurate and quite fast.
If you would like to OCR one of these books for us (and remember: you don't need
to scan any of the illustrations, since we have copies of the originals sent to
us by Brian Williams), the first thing you need to do is join the mailing list here:
http://www.freelists.org/list/projectaon
Then post that you are scanning in Book x (whichever you choose) and the
Assignments page should soon be updated to show which book you are working on.
Once again, thank you for your kind offer of support, and we hope to hear from
you soon.
Kind regards,
--
