Thought I'd ask Mel Bartels if he'd want to come talk to us again - here is
his response. What do you all think about getting him a flight? We could
also wait until spring.

Hi Nick
Thanks for asking! My current talk that I'm giving to the Black Forest
Star Party in Pennsylvania is on Fast Scopes and Faint Nebulae. I could
also talk about sketching mosaics with many-field sketches using my 25"
as I have an observing article coming out in the Dec S&T.
Dec 6th is out because of work. Let me talk it over with Barbara, my
wife. I like to have her come as she is very helpful with all. It's an
8+ hour drive if traffic is ok and we don't take any stops. I'm not keen
on winter car travel because the gorge can be bad. I just checked
airplane flights and see prices about $200/person, Eugene to Spokane via
Seattle. We'd need a room overnight too like before. What's your budget
looking like? I'm not looking for an honorarium but travel reimbursement
would be helpful so that I don't go in the hole on speaking engagements.

Hi Mel,
It's been a few years and we'd love to have you come back and speak to
our group! We're filling out our fall / winter / spring schedule and
would be honored if you'd share what you've been up to lately.
Potential dates:
Nov 1st
Dec 6th
Feb 7th
Later in the Spring is also possible - whatever works best for you.
Clear skies,
