I have some FANTASTIC NEWS about the July 2, 2019 total solar eclipse
(TSE). I am writing to you through your astronomy organization as a
possibly like-minded eclipse-chaser who (if so) I truly suspect may have
significant interest in this rare opportunity discussed below.
After months of discussions with LATAM Airlines, we now are "GO!" to launch
a spectacular high-altitude TSE 2019 eclipse-viewing flight from Easter
Island, Chile, to the point of greatest eclipse approximately 1,100 km
north of Easter Island. Our exclusively chartered Boeing 787-9 aircraft
will execute a fully-optimized, high precision, centerline intercept of the
lunar umbra from ~ 37,000 feet above the South Pacific Ocean. With a true
airspeed of ~ 904 km/hr we will extend the duration of totality to an
astounding time in the umbra of
** ~ 8-1/4 to 9+ minutes (!) **
(depending upon actual winds aloft) far above any otherwise obscuring
clouds below. This aircraft is uniquely well-suited for this purpose (see
web page link given above).
With this now most-welcome green light from LATAM, and in concert the
charter organizer/booking agent T.E.I. Tours and Travel, I have prepared
some detailed, preliminary, web-hosted information about the "EFLIGHT
2019-MAX" plan and viewing opportunity here:

The information therein has been sufficiently matured to inform of the
overall flight plan and, in particular, its eclipse-motivated construction.
PLEASE see those details that importantly augment this email, which should
answer many of your questions.
As "usual" (i.e., for my 14th planned eclipse flight, and 35th time in the
lunar umbral shadow), I am the 'technical guy' behind the definition,
development, and implementation of this 'EFLIGHT' plan leading to this
spectacular maximum-eclipse umbral intercept. I am not involved in flight
bookings for those with interest to join the flight. That is in the very
capable hands of Tim Todd at T.E.I. with his very significant past
experience in eclipse flight charters. Tim is closely working with LATAM
Airlines and separately provides per-participant (seat-row and

FYI, there are only 43 usable sun-side eclipse viewing locations (main
cabin seat-rows, or business-class windows) on the aircraft for eclipse
viewing, and when they are gone, they are gone!
