Hi all,
Just got off the phone with Jeff vom Saal of the Spokane Symphony. In
mid-November they're having a space / Apollo-themed concert. Jeff reached out
to us at Valleyfest about maybe doing 'something' in concert (ha!) with them.
It's all very up in the air right now but I want to get it in front of the
Board. Some points:
- The concert will include a multi-media show (film, photos, etc) by artist
/ astronomer Jose Francisco Salgado. There is a good possibility he'd be
willing to meet with our membership at some point during his visit and talk
astrophotos, space-y stuff, etc
- We could possibly do a sidewalk astronomy event before or after one of the
shows
- We could possibly set up some scopes in the lobby before or after one of
the shows
- There is a good possibility of getting a group discount if we can get a
number (20+ ?) of people to go to one of the performances.
This is a good opportunity - but if we're to pursue it I need the Board's
approval and of course volunteers to help put this together.
What say you?
Clear skies,Nick
