[SKRIVA] 25 years on Internet today

I sent my first Internet E-mail this day a quarter of a century ago, March 6th 
1990. I had before this been on BBSes (Bulletin Board Systems, operated by 
hobbyists; I later had my own sf-oriented BBS for a while) for maybe 1.5 year, 
but that doesn't count as Internet. My first E-mail was to a computer friend 
and fan (one Per L).
  I had just written an article about something called SuperKOM, a new version 
of the  KOM system started by Torgny Tholerus and Jacob Palme (well-known in sf 
circles) in the 70's and received a test account on SuperKOM. When that ended I 
joined computer clubs with Internet access, so I have been on the net 
continuously since. It was all modems in those day. My first modem gave me 1200 
 bps, ca 120 chr/s. You could see the text roll out on the screen.
  We later had Jacob Palme  guesting on of our sf cons. He had been active in 
sf fandom since the late 1950's and  even been published as a short story 
writer (and also wrote crime novels). Tholerus told me that he in the 70's 
published a readers' contents undergroud magazine, under the principle "we 
publish anything" (sounds a bit like a fanzine, but he wasn't a fan).
  Around 1991 my Virkbilagan must have been one of the first electronic 
fanzines in the Nordic area, published weekly and eventually reaching 90+ 
issues. About the same time one Mats Öhman demonstrated his site SF Arkiv on 
something new called World Wide Web on a con in Linköping. Before there were 
any GUI  browsers  and when a complete listing of web sites took up a full 
screen (about 25)...
