A Few Bullets:
- Ben thought Conner was going to fall on the ball on the good part of the
field, that's why he "watched" it happen. He didn't count on Conner slipping,
which is why it all played out the way it did. I now have new respect for Fran
Tarkenton; in seconds, he processed the situation and concluded that 2 was
better than 6.
- Regardless of what happened on offense, what the bloody, blue blazes happened
on defense?? Chubb is a damned good back, Hunt is pretty serious himself, but
they were running all over our guys. LBs and DBs alike. (I'm forgiving - a
little - of the D line; Browns O line is better than they're given credit for).
- Anyone thinking that Ben is an old fart, washed up, and done, needs to check
out the 3rd quarter of that game. He was the best and ONLY hope that the
Steelers had to win that game, and it showed then. Ben didn't fail the 2 point
conversions... Ben didn't fail to stop the Browns from getting first downs or
scoring...
- That said, if Ben is only sticking around to help Pouncey (and others) get a
ring, then I would seriously - VERY seriously - consider and probably recommend
retirement. Dedicating yourself, at 23, to winning a championship for a beloved
teammate (who probably won't see the field even 60% of the time) is NOT the
same as playing - at 38, going on 39 - for an aging lineman who WILL see the
field all of the time. God love ya for doing it, you're all heart, and I'm not
even saying DON'T do it... But that's a tall order.
- Juju. I know you were just repeating the standard line that Tomlin throws out
there, but really... STFU. Especially after all that shit with dancing on the
logos... Dude. Learn to fly under the radar. The Browns totally used that as
nitro-methane motivation to beat you. And they rode that wave for 4 quarters to
kick the shit out of the entire team for the whole 4 quarters.
- Defense: what the absolute F---?? One or two stops, especially in the second
half, and this is a completely different game. Add one or two in the first
half, and it might be up there with the game in January of '03.
- Gonna go drink now, still coming to peace with all of this.
