I disagree, I think there’s a lot to like here with Darnold.
Carolina are building something here and they now have a 23 year old QB at a
bargain price. He’s out of the situation where Gase drove him into the ground
with no supporting cast, the number of Pro Bowlers he played on offense with in
New York is ZERO, he’s out of that spotlight now too.
Look at what happened to Tannehill when he got out from underneath Gase (the QB
who led the league in yards per attempt this past season was not Mahomes, kids,
it was Tannehill), look at what happened to the likes of Robby Anderson and
others who have thrived away from Gase and the Jets.
Put Darnold alongside McCaffrey, he gets a fresh start, they still have the 8th
pick and might get Pitts or a top flight receiver or the best tackle in this
draft, they are building a culture there that will win, very soon. I love the
move for the Panthers, I love the move for Darnold.
The Jets are in that position now that so many are in and so many have failed
in, Miami is in the same spot too, you have made these moves and stockpiled all
these picks, the challenge is, you have to now do something with them and build
a winning team. It’s one thing to manoeuvre up and down the draft board, but at
some point, you have to pick guys who will help you - that’s the challenge and
it isn’t as easy as it looks.
