This debate will never go away, but my stance has always been that a great
coach needs a great QB, and a great QB needs a great coach. But, if you had to
weigh which is MORE important, then the answer is the player. You can have all
the phenomenal schemes, plans and plays you want, but if your players can't
execute them, then it's all for naught. A great player can make a play in
spite of his coach, not so much the other way around.
I saw a graphic this morning comparing Mike Tomlin to Bill Cowher and how
similar their records are, but it pointed out that while Tomlin has never had a
losing season, Cowher had 3. Those years were 1998, 1999 and 2003. Who were
his QBs? Kordell Stewart, Mike Tomczak, Tommy Maddox. Tomlin has had 1 HOF QB
his entire career except for most of 2019.

{margin-bottom:0in;}#yiv7999490639 I can’t stand Brady either, but I dislike
Belichick even more. So, there is a part of me that is happy that he is winning
while the hoodie-led Pats floundered. While I think that Belichick is (or at
least was) a very good coach, I always believed that Brady was the real reason
why NE was so dominant. And Belichick has been a terrible GM for quite some
time, but Brady’s performance made up for their team’s shortcomings. Dave in

Subject: [steelers_pb] HoF QBs Several observations from this weekend’s
football:
- I can’t stand Tom Brady. I hope A-a-ron destroys them next weekend and I
am NOT looking forward to a Super Bowl gushfest over Brady making another Super
Bowl.
- I don’t know who will retire or not, but combined, future Hall-of-Fame QBs
Phillip Rivers and Drew Brees together brought their four franchises fewer
Super Bowl titles than Mr. Roethlisberger did. i.e., the next time someone
offers up the “we wasted the HoF QB we had, shoulda won double-digit SBs, etc.”
garbage, tell them that getting to and winning a Super Bowl is hard. Very hard.
- Josh Allen is no longer just a big dude with a cannon of an arm. I think
we’re looking at a decade of Allen/Mahomes versus the rest of the AFC for SB
appearances because he has turned into a pretty dynamic player who is growing
in his ability to read defenses. But dude really does have a cannon!
- I’m glad Cleveland lost, but man that almost-TD—turned-fumble, that’s a
gut-punch. #ErnestByner
- I don’t wish any player to get injured, so I do hope Mahomes is cleared to
play next weekend, as Chefs-Bills could be an epic matchup. Must-see TV!
- My pick at this point is a Packers-Bills Super Bowl (regardless of
Mahomes’ health) with the Bills getting the SB monkey off their back.
