Not so crazy to me.  In one case they're losing someone they spent time and effort to develop, in the other they are reaping the rewards of their labor.  What's crazy to me is getting compensated for losing minorities only.  Either compensate for all losses or none.  Unequal treatment is bad, no matter which way it goes.

And the thing is, the Steelers get screwed if they do promote Hunt. The new rule that rewards teams with two third round picks for producing minorities who go on to become GM’s and head coaches does not apply to internal promotions. So if they lose someone who they have invested time and energy in, they get rewarded, but if they have taken time and effort to develop that individual and promote him, they don’t. To me, that’s crazy.

From what Bouchette said in a chat on The Athletic last week,
Omar would probably not be next up for the Steelers either, they
like him as their Contract guy, but not as a Talent guy.  I
forget who Ed suggested was the heir apparent, but I can find it
    if needed.

        4 confirmed coaching changes:

        Randy fired as OC
Shaun Sarret fired as OL Coach
Tom Brady fired as DB Coach
James Daniel retires as TE Coach

We also have 3 potential openings :

Matt Canada interviewing for MIA OC
Terry Austin interviewing for Tenn DC
Omar Khan up for Panther GM and previously interviewed for HOU

Does any of this play into Ben's decision to play or not as
many have asked. Ben gets a $15 bonus if he is here past mid
March. Assuming team makes a push for a decision before then.
I think if he wants to play , and I think he can still play
at a higher than most level, he will be back. Not arguing
for or against, but I think Ben stays if he wants to play.
Randy won't affect. Pounce may if he retires.
Ben's problem from a financial standpoint is unlike many
other superstars he is largely hated outside the Burgh. Not
getting TV job or endorsements. His last chance at $$ is to
        return next year.

If the team likes Canada they need to make a move on him
soon if teams like MIA are calling. The have a young QB,
they are in warm weather and they have two 1st round picks
        to spend on skill positions.

As with every season, it will be interesting.
