I am the same way. Always optimistic—probably too much so. The offense looked
terrible today. Ben looked bad, but I can’t tell if it’s because he looks every
day of his 39 years, he had 7 dropped passes, the O-line is trying to get him
killed, or if Canada’s offense is the same as Fichtner’s.
All in all, Ben threw the ball pretty well other than the one pick, but he was
moving like Kent Graham. Was he just not recovered from the beating he took
last week? And why is Ebron even on the field?
The offensive line is horrendous in both run and pass-pro. It depresses me to
see Harris run into the big behinds of our o-line where the hole is supposed to
be. When he gets a crease, he shows his pedigree. And Ben gets pressured up the
middle as well as around the ends and the rushers are getting running starts at
him too. No way he finished the season if this keeps up.
The defense is so soft up the middle without Alualu. Bush was getting run over.
As much as Spillane is a weakness in the passing game, Bush is just as much a
weakness in the running game. I would have liked to have seen Spillane in the
second half as Cinci was trying to run out the clock. He is an extraordinary
run stuffer.
I would hate to see the team give up on the season. I know that I am not.
Getting the guys back on defense will help against Green Bay next week. I just
hope the offensive line plays better. Do they have enough talent to, though?

Every year I am cautiously optimisitic after camp. This year I really thought
Highsmith/Ingram would be an uprgade over Bud, Harris over Conner and the
O-line would be no worse tbhan last year.
Now all I want is Dave's way too early evaluations of QBs and to go 1-16. I
don't want a 6-11 or 7-10 useless season.
The first half of the season was supposed to be the "easier" part of the
schedule.
Too many things to go into , but much sooo much wasted talent, bad play
calling, poor execution it is almost amazing.
I do believe that they will get better, but I see no way that Ben's last season
is Tomlin's first losing season.
