I say they sit tight with Mason. He, at worst, is nothing more than
insurance this year (even though I think he's the best QB on the roster).
But, if Mitch goes down, then they are in a great spot with a guy that can
actually start. Whether they go to Kenny first or not. Because then,
Mason is one snap away from being able to show what he can now do in this
offense.
OR, Mitch doesn't go down but someone else does on another Roster and they
become desperate for QB help. 2nd or 3rd Rounder and we can solve their
problems! :-)

I have a couple pretty random thoughts on this:
1) Tomlin's response when asked about this was a classic Tomlinism: "the

2) If I were into far flung poorly supported conspiracy theories, trying
to faux move Mason up the depth chart to create a trade market for him...
Kinda sorta maybe makes sense.
3) Mason should request a trade or release. If I had the relationship he
has with his employer (and fan base), I'd be looking for a new job at a
different place.

The best part is the amount of drama that ensued over the depth chart
release. I actually was not surprised by the initial depth chart. Mason is
the veteran backup who knows the system. Not having Kenny as #2 might have
alleviated some of the pressure on Mitch with Kenny as the monkey on his
back the whole time. Starting Kenny as #3 might keep the ego in check and
you also do it to see how he responds. Ben was #3 when camp started as a
rookie and was ONLY #2 because Charlie got hurt, its just how we do

Of course, MT changes that all up today and KP8 is #2. I don't see a
short leash on Mitch to be honest. I also think the team knows the OL is
horrific and would rather have Mitch struggle than their rookie.
Mason has been a standup guy which I give him credit for, but honestly if
I were him those days would be gone. He played some of his best football
here and has been a model citizen.
He should be asking to be traded. He is better than plenty of backups out
there and could likely see playing time depending on failures and injuries.

Watching the Tomlin Presser, and they only have 1 mic in front of him, and
then the video starts to glitch, then the audio garbles, then finally
disappears.
Meaning, we will likely not hear anything right from Mike and we'll get
this all through the media with no audio.
THIS, combined with the Clerical Error having Mason #2, makes me believe
we have a lot of people already not committed to doing their jobs. Hope
the actual team can do better.
