Off the top of my head, I know of five or six individuals vicsireland
members who aren’t subscribed to the vip_students list. (That’s not to say
that they’re always list members but five of them have posted here in recent
times.)
In my view, the two lists can serve complementary purposes. Besides which,
the vip_students list isn’t owned/moderated by a person.

Hey Paul,
Another trick that can be helpful if wanting to send the same question to
both lists is to use a slightly different subject line for each of them.
That way, particularly for people who use conversation view, they are less
likely to become mixed up.
I have been wondering of late if it might be a good idea to work towards
essentially merging these two lists, keeping one going with all the
participants from both on it, and retiring the other. As they are broadly
serving the same purpose, it’s often hard to know which one to post to.
Just thinking out loud, as I admittedly don’t know how much overlap there is
between the two memberships :)

address to which I am posting all the time is vicsireland@freelists .org I
have just pasted it from my address book. I have no address in my address
book with the bounce word included, either in my VIPS or VIPS addresses.

This is why all the messages which you send out are fed back to you. The
rest of us only see the single message to either list but not both in the
one list, if you follow me!
You need to ensure that you are addressing:
vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
without the “bounce” keyword in the address.
Here is a note that might explain what is happening:
“bounce_address
What’s with the “-bounce” address?
This address is used to provide automatic bounce handling for your list.
It is set up as the “Sender”of all outbound email, so that bounces are
directed back toward it. Users should never see this address, unless they're
so unfortunate as to be using Outlook, which sometimes displays it instead
of or in conjunction with the From address” There does not seem to be any
explanation for why Outlook does this.

Hi all.
I have noticed in the past that if I send a message to VICS and copy it to
VIPS, both messages seem to end up in the VICS inbox. I wonder if this
happened to Albert today and to Ronan a few days ago When I sent my earlier
message regarding youtube scripts earlier today, I deliberately sent it
separately to both lists to avoid the problem.
I also notice that the problem with getting messages from the Free Lists
Mailing Manager Every time I send a message to this list has re-occurred.
I now have three of them in my inbox today and this message will, no doubt,
generate a fourth one.
