Hi Flor,

I heard from APH, with a suggestion that the firmware update could be
removed, by placing the card in a card reader, and removing a particular
file. I did, and it worked! The unit now works again as it should. The
latest updates look interesting though!

They also suggested (like you,) that the Plextalk Pocket power supply
should work OK.

I borrowed one from Michael Lavin, but it didn’t make any difference when
connectedd

The supply he gave me is a little fatter (back to front,) around the pins,
which are at the top of the unit. The unit is almost rectangular apart
from a semi circular bulge on either side of the horizontal pins, i.e.
the live and neutral. The lower part of the unit isn’t quite as fat. The
back has 5 slightly curved lines running top to bottom. They can be
easily felt. The cable comes out of the bottom edge of the unit. It
doesn’t appear to have any engraved writing or Braille or other
distinguishing marks on it.

If you still have yours, can you confirm this is the correct PSU for the
Plextalk Pocket, please.

I’m just trying to rule out the possibility that he may have given me
another power supply by mistake.

Thanks very much for your help.

Regards,

Eamonn

Hi Eamonn,

If you can locate a Plextalk Pocket user near you, as it and the BP are
much the same, then you may be able to borrow their AC adapter and then
finish or reinstall the upgrade.

In the meantime, if you haven't done so already: take out the battery
for several seconds, then reinsert it. After that, switch on the
Bookport, and wait for it to sound. (that's how I fix my Plextalk Pocket
when it goes silent, which is rare. That restores it.)

Subject: [vicsireland] BookPort Plus question

Hi folks,

I'm wondering if anyone on the list in Dublin, is using the Bookport
Plus?
It's probably unlikely, as most people I know have opted for the
Victory
Reader Stream.

I updated the firmware recently, forgetting the AC adaptor was required
to
finish the process. Right now I can't find it, it's probably somewhere
around the house!

Regards,

Eamonn
