Hi Tony,

I believe you are using Outlook Express, but I'm not sure what version of
Jaws you are using, so I'm going to give instructions for jaws 8.0 and
jaws 10, and if they don't work let me know what version you have.

1. Jaws 8

Move to your inbox.
Hit jaws key (probably insert key) and v to bring up the 'adjust jaws
verbosity' dialogue
You will now be in a list of options you can change.
The first option in the list should read:

Message Header Fields Announced with Message - On

Hit the space bar to turn this off. The line will now read:

Message Header Fields Announced with Message - Off

Hit enter to save these settings.

2. Jaws 10

Move to your inbox.
Hit jaws key (probably insert key) and v to bring up the 'adjust jaws
options' dialogue
You will now be in a list of options you can change.
The first line in the list should read:

Outlook Express Options

If it says 'opened' after this then just hit down arrow, otherwise
hit the right arrow to open the list of options and then hit down
arrow.

You will then hear:

Header Field With Message Announcement - On

Hit the space bar to turn this off. The line will now read:

Header Field With Message Announcement - Off

Hit enter to save these settings.

That should do the trick.

Cheers,

Tim

Hi Tim,

Sorry about the subject line!

Possibly trying to learn too much too quickly!

A good tip you gave, but something in layout would that be helpful too?

Don't understand the options there!

Thanks

Tony

Hi Tony,

You could just hit the up arrow once the message is open. This acts to
stop Jaws talking and brings you to the top of the message. Alternatively,
you could hit the control key which stops Jaws speaking.

Tim

Subject: [vicsireland] No 'From or Subject begin of Message

Hi All,

I have decided to try out the enter and escape keys when opening or closing
an email, respectively!

Now whether I have the setting to plain text or not when I open the email
with enter there is an announcement telling me who it's from and the subject

line!

I already would have that information in the message list!

Is there a way to not have that announcement spoken when I have opened a
message or is there any other way around that annoyance?

Thanks

tony
