An interesting point came up:

We were discussing the question of reaching out to the broader community of
people with a visual impairment. It was mentioned that there are self-help
groups all around the country in small numbers but genuinely trying to
provide each other with information and problem-solving discussions. VICS
would like to reach out to all of these and provide answers, demonstrations
or simply a friendly voice to add to the supports they provide to their
members. Any query - no matter how basic - will be very welcome  and given
the utmost attention by VICS members. 

VICS would also be delighted to travel to meet any group anywhere. As PRO,
my contact details below may be circulated freely and I look forward to
hearing from people. They do not have to be members of VICS - this is an
effort to reach out to everyone who is trying to use technology in a
non-visual way.

Hi Cearbhal,

Glad to hear that there was a positive outcome.  I'll be thinking about what
I can contribute.  Did people have any ideas about other streams of people
that might be approached whom might log onto the website or attracted to the
idea of becoming members to acquire info from the mailing list?
