Hi Mark,

Couldn't seem to get any voice output out of the video, so maybe I'm
missing something.

I suppose this is a slight step forward, But excuse me for being a bit
underwhelmed!

Wow, I can now make a phone call using the iPhone. The iPhone has
about another trillion features, most of which involve more complex
operations than just tapping in a number and I can't access them.

I could make phone calls using the first mobile ever invented, so this is
hardly a step forward.

Also, how would I change setttings on the phone?
How would I browse the web, which is surely the main feature of the iPhone?
How do I confirm I've typed in the correct phone number and clear any
incorrect digits?

There are a dozen other things I want to do but can't, because for a
very simple problem, If I'm doing anything which requires just a single
tap on the phone, or even 2 taps, I have no way of orienting myself.

I hate to be negative, but I'm still to be convinced that touch screens
can ever be made to work as well as tactile surfaces.

Tim

For all those touchscreen lovers, here's an article about an 'eyes-
free' touchscreen dialling system developed by Google on the Android
mobile phone OS. The basic idea could be expanded to other touchscreen
applications.

http://www.macworld.com/article/139832/2009/04/android_accessibility.html

The article includes s a video demo which is mostly voiceover so you
should get a good idea of how it works.
