Hi Flor.
As always, thanks for your observations. I have uninstalled the version of
Skype that came with Windows 10 and replaced it with the latest Skype 8
version, with the intention of trying to download Doug Lee’s scripts again,
just to see if they will work.
However, given both your comments and Tim’s, I think I’ll just learn the
hotkeys already available from JAWS and leave it at that.
I am having enough trouble trying to get my head around Windows 10, without
giving myself the additional headache of learning too many unnecessary key
combinations
Paul.

Hi Paul,
I tried out those external scripts from Doug Lee a while ago, hoping for some
improvements/extras, but found they took away some of the native Skype
functionality that’s kept by JAWS in Skype without them. So I uninstall them
again. and confusion was lessened. I’m not, however, a frequent user of Skype.
(It’s not the same program since Microsoft took it over and gave it substantial
bloat.) >g>. I also believe that brian Hartgen had developed Scripts for Skype,
though I haven’t checked them out and they might not be free?

Subject: [vicsireland] JAWS Scripts For Skype Problem
Hi all.
Anybody out there using the current JAWS scripts for Skype?
I run the Skype 8 Electron.exe file and follow the simple instructions but the
scripts are not loading as I can confirm by hitting insert plus q. I may be
missing something obvious so any help appreciated
Here are the instructions for downloading the scripts from Doug Lee’s site
wwwdlee.org..
1. Load JAWS if this has not already been done. This will require
administrative privileges on the computer.
2. Run JAWS as the user for whom the scripts are to be installed. This and
the following steps must be performed for each user of the computer who will be
using JAWS with these scripts.
3. Download and run, or run directly, the installer for these scripts
<http://www.dlee.org/skype/electron/jfw_skypeelectron.exe> ; and follow the
on-screen directions. Be sure to install the scripts in the currently running
JAWS version if a JAWS version list is presented.
4. To verify successful installation, type Ins+Q while Skype 8 is in
focus. Part of the JAWS spoken response should be a revision number. If you do
not hear a revision number, the scripts are not correctly loaded.
.
I am not entirely clear as to what exactly instruction 2 involves. Could this
be where my difficulty with the download lies?
I am using Windows 10, the latest update to JAWS 19 and Microsoft.Skype 14.6.
Thanks in advance
Paul
