Dear All,

The April edition of our monthly technology podcast is now available, either to
download directly at
http://www.ncbi.ie/sites/default/files/podcasts/podcast_april_2014.mp3 or from
our RSS feed at http://www.ncbi.ie/technologypodcast.xml, which includes all
the links mentioned on our programme.

This month, BBC journalist Emma Tracey is with us following her trip to the
29th Annual International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference
(CSUN), in San Diego, California. There are lots of useful web resources
relating to CSUN that are mentioned, including Curb Cut, who have produced a
really thorough collection of presentations, people, and news happenings from
the conference, a video from NBC where musician Stevie Wonder visits the
exhibition and news on a new and exciting product called Blaze, from HIMS.
Apple enthusiasts Kerie Doyle and David Nason are with us to talk about what's
new and changed for Blind and Low Vision users in iOS 7.1, the latest release
of Apple's mobile operating system.
Stuart speaks with Sam Jewell, inventor of the Giraffe Stand, which provides a
secure stand for your iPhone while it performs scanning and OCR. Derry Lawlor,
who is a user of this device, follows Sam's interview with a quick
demonstration.
Finally, NCBI's Sharon Lyons is interviewing Stuart about his use of
Microsoft's Surface Pro tablet, which is now accessible with a number of
windows-based screen readers, as well as with Microsoft's own Narrator screen
access tool.

Feedback of any kind is always gratefully received, so please get in touch if
you'd like to!

Kind regards,

Stuart
