Gerry, Well done on bringing this to the attention of RTé. Just to let you know - an update to the Radio app appeared on the App store in recent days which includes tweaks to make it work with the latest version of Apples IOS operating system. No improvements on the accessibility front though... Incidentally ... I just found out that I have been accessing only a small portion of The RTé News Now app for the past year or so. The only items accessible to me are the latest top stories. Apparently there are a series of tabs across the top which list the various categories for which news items are also available e.g. news, sport, business, entertainment etc. Another item for you to mention at the next meeting... The more I see of RTé's products, the more obvious their blatant disregard for accessibility becomes. This meets every couple of months and we have an opportunity to meet a wide variety of RTE staff up to and including the Director General who we met early in September. We will have a joint meeting with the RTE Board in December. I have raised the issue of accessibility at every meeting that I attended. I do not limit this to vision impaired people, but persons with disabilities, older people and people of limited means. We met on Thursday (Oct. 27th), and I raised the issue of the inaccessibility of the new Radio Player. I do not believe that I am breaking any rules on confidentiality to say that I asked the Council to request RTE to make a statement on the issue. This could then be circulated to appropriate groups such as the TV Access group. I will not comment further here until I hear if there is any response to that request. If a statement is issued I will circulate it via this list. Take care, Gerry ellis If you don't know where you're going, How will you know when you get there?
