Hi, Olivia,

I am a member of the RTE Audience Council which is a group of 14 people from
all walks of life who meet with the CEO of RTE every 2 months or so and will
soon meet with its Board. It is a statutory organisation which was set up under
the new Broadcasting Act.

I would be happy to help you in whatever way I can. I could think of two
options:

1. I could be one of your testers. I live in Dublin.

2. I could bring your concerns, findings or desires to the Audience Council. I
suggest that if I do this one it might be a good idea if I don't become one of
your testers in case of any conflict of interst that might arise.

What do you think?

I have also sent this email to your own email address as a BCC, so you should
now have my private email address. Feel free to contact me using that or via
the VICS list.

Take care,

Gerry Ellis

If you don't know where your're going,
How will you know when you get there?

Subject: [vicsireland] RTE web player volunteers

  Dear all,

My name is Olivia Kennedy, as Mark Magennis mentioned I am currently trying
to make the RTE Player accessible with JAWS. I will be conducting user tests on
the new RTE player to find out problems with it as it is not yet accessible. I
am emailing you in hope of finding volunteers to test the new version of the
RTE player using JAWS. Volunteers will be asked to complete a number of tasks,
these tasks are designed to use all aspects of the website functionality also
volunteers will be recorded so that I can take note of the problems regarding
accessibility with the website. I am hoping to get volunteers from either
Limerick, Kilkenny, Dublin or any of the surrounding areas as I will have to
conduct tests in the volunteers own home.

My research will follow best practice with regard to privacy and
confidentiality procedures. All recordings will be kept confidential and will
not be not distributed to any other parties. Your experiences, feedback and
quotes may be used for the purposes of demonstrating and highlighting
accessibility issues to RTE. However this information will be entirely
anonymous and will not link back to you in any way.

The more people that take part in this study, the more problems that I will
find with the RTE player to solve, making it more accessible. If you can take
part, please email me, kennedyolivia@xxxxxxxxx , if you are not from any of
these areas mentioned above but would like to take part in this research, you
can email me also as I might be able to get to your location. Once you've
emailed me, I'll give you more information and we can work out a suitable
date/time etc.

Thank you all, I would really appreciate if you volunteer and I hope do my
best to make the RTE player accessible,

  Olivia Kennedy
